The “Search Accounts” tab below the title of the “CHART OF ACCOUNTS” window enables you to search among your accounts to find entries that match specific criteria.

  1. Click on the “Financials” tab on the vertical Dashboard menu at the left side of the screen.
  2. Click on the “Chart of Accounts” tab.
  3. Click on the “Search” tab below the title of the “CHART OF ACCOUNTS” window.
  4. Click in the “Search Accounts” box in the search bar and enter all or part of the name of an account as your search terms to search by name. To search for all account names, leave the “Search Accounts” box blank.
  5. Set the “Account Types” dropdown menu to the type of account for which you want to search. To search for all account types, leave the “Account Types” dropdown menu set to “All account types.”
  6. Set the “Detail Types” dropdown menu to the account detail type for which you want to search. Note that not all detail types are applicable to all account types. To search for all detail types, leave the “Detail Types” dropdown menu set to “All detail types.”
  7. In the “Search Accounts” bar, click on the search button (magnifying glass) at the right end of the search bar to perform your search.
    • To clear your search terms, click on the clear button (“X”) at the right end of the search bar.
    • To clear the “Account Types” and “Detail Types” dropdown menu settings, click on the “Reset filters” link to the right of the pair of dropdown menus.
  8. The results of your search appear below the search bar and search-filter dropdown menus. The results include the name of the account, its account type, its detail type, and a link to view it in the “Accounts” tab. Note that if the account is a child of a parent account, the link area includes links to both the parent and the child.
  9. Additionally and on the right side of the results area, the account balance appears. Below it, click on the horizontal three-dots menu for a view in the “Accounts” chart, immediate access to the “Edit Account” sidebar, or immediate access to the “DEACTIVATE ACCOUNT?” window.
  10. Note that after you follow an account link in the search results to explore or edit an account, click on the “Search” tab below the title of the “CHART OF ACCOUNTS” window to return to your search results.
